Celebration Sunday

25/11/2014

As the year draws to a close its a great time to give thanks to our God for his goodness to us this past year at our Celebration Sunday service.

This year as we prepare for Celebration Sunday I would like to ask you to do something that will help us worship God and encourage one another as we meet together on that morning.

Would you please take some time out in the next week to reflect on your year and how you have grown as a follower of Jesus and make some notes for what you would like to give thanks to God for.

As a tool for doing so I have attached a link to a document with some questions in it. Please print it out, fill it out and return it at our Celebration Sunday service.

The idea of this questionnaire is:
1. to help you reflect on your year and celebrate, and also
2. to help our planning for the coming year.

Set aside 30 minutes of quiet time to think and reflect on your year as a follower of Jesus. Ask God to bring to mind those ways in which he has guided, gifted and grown you this past year. The questionnaire is anonymous and your feedback will be invaluable as we make plans for next year.

The document can be found here

Our church would love to invite you and your family and your friends to our next All In Family Service being held at St Andrew’s Anglican Church at 9.30 on Sunday 30th November, 2014.

This will be a very special event as we have invited Naomi Reed to come and perform her celebrated “The Zookeeper” at our church for our local community. Naomi Reed’s ‘The Zookeeper’ is a gospel story told through vibrant music, drama, dance and puppets. It captures the imagination of all the family, kids and adults alike.

"Engaging and moving. Playschool meets C.S.Lewis meets the Gospels
to bring us the big sweep of the Bible." - Kirk Patston

The Sola Series

28/9/2013

Picture
we have paused in our look at Philippians to have a short 4 week series on what is known as the four 'solas'.

"The four what?" I hear you cry! I am sure it may sound a bit weird, but here is a chance to catch a bit of our family history and to understand why we are the way we are!

Some of you may have been watching the show “Who do you think you are…”. Shows like these reveal to us how as individuals we each have a family tree that go back a long way and can profoundly shape who we are.

Churches are the same. St Andrew’s has a long history, a long family tree, that goes a long way back; and just like our biological families, whether we are aware of it or not, who we are as a church is shaped by all of that.

Through The four solas - Scripture Alone, Faith Alone, Grace alone, and Christ alone we are going to take a look at a bit of our family history so that we might understand a bit more of why we are who we are, why we do what we do.
